It isn’t necessary to stay stuck in painful or challenging circumstances as therapy provides an opportunity to address difficult situations and move towards peace with self and others.
Counseling or therapy can support the resolution of:
Trauma (past or present) – A traumatic event involves a single experience, or an enduring or repeating event or events, that completely overwhelm the individual’s ability to cope or integrate the ideas and emotions involved with that experience.
Workplace Challenges or Issues: – improving workplaces through team building, resolution of workplace conflict and improving collaboration.
Emotions Regulation – Anger, anxiety, self-deficits, depression, aggression and emotional extremes.
Mental Health Management – Identify symptoms that are impacting emotional health and wellness. One in five individuals will be diagnosed with a mental health issue, including depression, phobias, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and conduct disorders.
Life Transitions Counseling – Life change/transitions such as marriage, birth of child, mid-life crisis, retirement, parenthood, job or career transitions, death of loved one, divorce, accident, serious illness, etc. are all events that often result in a period of time that require some substantial changes that require shifts in our emotions, thinking and lives.
Therapy offers the opportunity to improve communication skills which may result in improved relationships with partner and/or others! Hence, as we work through complex issues, beliefs, feelings and thoughts, these skills are further enhanced both verbally and non-verbally including communication in conflict, emotional regulation, handling rage.
Goals in Treatment: My goal is to work with individuals, children, and families to help them communicate clearly and integrate their past experiences with their present, fostering a positive outlook on the future.
Additionally, I aim to guide clients through difficult situations, thoughts, and emotions, helping to reduce their impact on daily life, thoughts, and feelings. These are the goals I have for you in therapy.
Therapeutic interventions may include:
1. EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): is a psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences by using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories;
2. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): is a structured, goal-oriented psychotherapy approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve emotional regulation and develop healthier coping strategies.
3. Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), certification includes EFT for couples and individuals EFIT). EFT/EFIT is a structured, attachment-based approach that helps couples and individuals identify and transform negative emotional patterns to foster secure, lasting relationships.
4. Trauma-informed (integration of the neurosciences): Trauma and neuroscience-informed counseling integrates an understanding of trauma’s effects on the brain and nervous system to promote healing and resilience through specialized therapeutic approaches (Perry, Porges, Vanderkolk).
5. Somatic and Hakomi Methods: Hakomi and somatic treatment counselling combine mindfulness-based techniques with body-centered approaches to help clients access and process deeply held emotional and psychological experiences for healing and self-discovery. />
6. Humanistic and Jungian/Analytical Psychology: Humanistic and analytical psychology therapy focus on fostering self-awareness and personal growth by exploring both conscious experiences and the unconscious mind to achieve psychological well-being and authenticity.
